ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has responded to the letter written by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf to approve the resignations of its members.

Spokesman National Assembly Secretariat responded to PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi's letter stating that your members will be called to confirm the resignations.

According to the text of the letter, every member of the PTI will have to confirm the resignation in a personal capacity, the members will be called under paragraph B of sub-rule 43 of the Assembly Rules, 2007.

On December 15, Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a letter written to Speaker National Assembly Raja Parvez Ashraf said that on April 11, 2022, 123 MNAs submitted written resignations to former Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri, which is in accordance with the constitution and assembly rules. These resignations were accepted on April 13, 2022.

Secretary National Assembly Mr. Tahir Hussain also issued a notification on that day but the clear order of the former Deputy Speaker was not followed by the current government.

On July 28, the resignations of only 11 members were accepted illegally. The letter said that it is not yet clear on what legal basis your office can select certain members.

You have used the position to give political advantage to the incumbent government, the PTI's dominance in the by-elections was very clear in which the party won 75 percent of the by-election seats.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi wrote that we once again formally request you to accept the remaining resignations of our party members without delay. Hope you will not delay further in this matter.
